Competition Winners blog
As a company we work very closely with schools, colleges and universities throughout the country. We have therefore developed a keen understanding of educational needs and how budget restraints can stifle classroom activities and creativity. Our manufacturing process results in surplus fabric, Perspex and card which we are delighted to free cycle to our local school community for use in their arts and craft projects. We have also donated rolls of surplus fabric to be turned into outfits for plays and curtaining for drama productions.
We decided to run a competition to find the most deserving school to win a set of rainbow screens. The schools had to simply tell us why they thought they should win the screens and how they could make best use of them. We were so impressed with some of the interesting, unique and quite simply heart wrenching responses that we felt compelled to offer a runners’ up prize.
The lucky runners up were St Stephens Primary School in Bristol, who were keen to create some quiet reading zones in their busy classrooms. Our acoustic screens would be used to form reading/library areas to enable the children to concentrate without the distraction of general classroom noise.
The winners of the rainbow screens were Shepherd’s Down School in Hampshire, a wonderful school which caters for pupils with a special educational need.
Head Teacher Jane Sansome commented:
“We are delighted with the screens and they are already in use in class rooms. They are being used to provide more low distraction areas, privacy areas and quiet areas for the children. Staff are delighted at the array of colours so thank you to one and all.”
